Players can sign up for the Matchplay Competitions (Cusack Cup, Foursomes and Farrell Cup) and The Club Championship by clicking on the lbutton above. Members looking to compete in the Foursomes competitions must include their partner’s name in the space provided. We also request that members provide a contact phone number that will be published, to other participants only, to facilitate contact between players. Members may also register by contacting Karl O’Dea on 086-8371386 or any Men’s Committee Member to facilitate entry. Note that members are solely responsible for their entry and results.

 

Rules and format

-Closing date for entries to Matchplay Competitions is Monday 10h of May (may be subject to change).

-All results must be submitted by email to mensgolf@rushgolfclub.com by end of day of the stated completion date for the tie. Non submission of a result will result in automatic disqualification of both parties. Please include ‘Competition Result’ in the subject line in the email.

-Note that members are solely responsible for their entry and results.

-It is the winner’s responsibility to ensure that names are registered by the stated completion date.

-BOTH parties are responsible for arranging to play their match.

-We request that players provide their contact number(s) with their entry to facilitate contact being made. Member’s names will appear on a draw sheet which will be published on the Club’s Web-Site and Club Noticeboard and participant’s phone numbers will be circulated electronically amongst those playing only. Contact phone numbers can also be secured by contacting the office on 01-8438177 ext1 and in the ‘Members’ Section of the V1 app.

-Competition Fees will be deducted from your account. Please ensure you have adequate funds to cover your cost of entry.

-Both parties should endeavour to contact their opponent(s) at the earliest opportunity to arrange their match date and time.

-In the case of a tie in the Cusack Cup and Foursomes Competitions, continue play from the 1st tee and shots are applied on the respective index that applies to each hole.

-The Committee reserves the right to cancel the competitions entirely or to amend all dates (ie entry dates/round completion dates) as appropriate.

-Competition Draws will be published in the ‘Blog’ area of the website. We will endeavour to provide a copy of this draw on the Men’s Noticeboard.

-In the case of cancellation, entry fees will be refunded.

-All matches must be played in accordance with the CV19 regulations as they apply at time of play.

 

 

Cusack Cup

-Cost of entry is €10 per player.

-Under the WHS the applicable handicap for Matchplay is your COURSE HANDICAP which will determine strokes differential and the matches are played from the BLUE Markers.

 

Mens Foursomes

-Cost of entry is €10 per team (€5 per player).

-Each team will play with two balls (one per player) which must be clearly marked. One team member will tee off on the odd numbered holes and his playing partner will tee off on the even numbered holes. The player teeing off will be responsible for ‘managing the ball’ during the hole which means he is responsible for teeing off, drops where required, ball marking on the green and ball retrieval from the hole. Play is from the WHITE markers.

-Under the WHS the applicable handicap for Foursomes Matchplay is 50% of the combined COURSE Handicaps of the two players.

 

 

The Club Championship

-The cost of entry is €10.

-Qualification for the Club Championship Group Stage will be based on entrant’s gross scores in the Monthly Medal Competitions. A player’s gross total for three out of the four medals held in May, June, July and August will determine his overall qualifying score. The eight players with the lowest gross total, for their best three rounds will qualify for the final eight.

-The final eight will be split into two groups of four and they will play each other in a ‘Round Robin’ or league format in gross medal matchplay. This will take place after the August Medal. The winner of each tie will be awarded 2 points with the loser 0 points and if a game ends in a tie each player will be award 1 point. The group winner will be the player with the highest points total. In the case of a tie at the end of the Round Robin, the player with the lowest gross score will be declared the winner of the group.

-The winner from each group will play-off against each other in a 18 hole Medal Matchplay to determine the Club Champion.

-The Committee reserves the right to alter aspects of the competition dependent on the restrictions that may apply at the time.

-All Medal Competitions, Round Robin Groups and the final will be played from the BLUE markers.

 

Farrell Cup

-Cost of entry €10 per team (€5 per player). Mixed Foursomes played off handicaps of the day.

-Each team will play with two balls (one per player) which must be clearly marked. The Male Team member will tee off on the odd numbered holes and his playing partner will tee off on the even numbered holes. The player teeing off will be responsible for ‘managing the ball’ during the hole which means he/she is responsible for teeing off, drops where required, ball marking on the green and ball retrieval from the hole and play is from the WHITE markers for the men and RED markers for the ladies.

-Handicap Strokes are applied as per the Men’s Course.

-Under the WHS the applicable handicap for Foursomes Matchplay is 50% of the combined COURSE Handicaps of the two players.
